Seeds of Promise seeks to positively impact the health and education of the primary school population in Belize, Central America. There, school nutrition programs in public schools are completely voluntary and independently operated.
Through the implementation of both a sustainable food program and supplementary curriculum, Seeds of Promise teaches primary school children to secure their own food and to understand the value of good nutrition. Our pilot-program was launched in Belize City. Once proven successful, it will serve as a model to be replicated throughout the country's 6 districts, impacting 300 plus schools.
Core Values
Partnerships with local communities: We believe that only through partnerships with the community whom we assist can true change occur. By promoting local leadership we ensure that the efforts to improve the quality of life in Belize continues beyond our own reach.
Sustainability: While we recognize the importance of providing immediate assistance to the children with whom we work, Seeds of Promise is designed to become self-sustaining overtime. This means, eventually, no more relying on donations or foreign aid, but attaining true economic freedom.
Greatest Need
Our greatest need at this time is a tractor and plow. Our pilot school sits on two acres, a terrain too vast for students to clear by hand.
